Energetic Certification

The ENERGETIC CERTIFICATION OF BUILDINGS is applied to all new and existing dwellings and services buildings with an area superior to 1000m2.

On these buildings we include companies’ administrative/commercial buildings.

New buildings, extension or repairment of existing buildings are required by law:

• To emit the regulatory compliance declaration in order to be attributed the corresponding Energetic Classification, so that the construction license may be emitted;
• To emit the energetic certifications in order to be attributed the corresponding Energetic Classification so that the user license may be emitted.

The existing buildings are required by law to periodical audits aiming at identifying the energetic consumption in order to be attributed the corresponding Energetic Classification. The same audit will assess the quality of the air indoors with the aim of contributing to the well-being of the workers.

In practical terms, the Energetic Certificate of buildings in the Energetic Certification System will allow:

• To assess the energetic performance of the building;
• To assess the quality of the air indoors;
• To suggest measures to obtain a higher energetic efficiency of buildings, which reflects in energy saving;
• To suggest measures to offer a higher well-being level to those working in the building, improving their productivity.

This allows obtaining the Energetic Certificate in which the Energetic Class of the Building or Dwelling will be written on. In some circumstances, the services buildings with an area inferior to 1000m2 are also required to be audited and to be emitted the Energetic Certificate.
